Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Chapter 17, Session Laws of Wyoming, 2001, established a base budget comparison and reporting process for State agencies. Base budget is defined as a budget containing all legislative appropriations as defined by W.S. 9-2-1013(d)(iv). W.S. 9-2-1013(d)(iv) defines “appropriations” to include specific Legislative authorization to expend State revenues contained in a budget bill.

Purpose

The Chapter 17 Report allows the Legislature to review the agency’s Standard Budget and the specific amount the Base Budget differs  from the Standard Budget estimate before the agency’s budget hearing with the Joint Appropriations Committee [reference 9-2-1011(c)]. State of Wyoming statutes require the submission of these reports to the Legislative Service Office no later than October 1 in odd years [reference 9-2-1012(f)].
